تعرض نظام إعادة الفيديو للمزيد من الانتقادات بعد إلغاء هدف لمانشستر يونايتد أمام هدرسفيلد عن طريق حكم الفيديو المساعد رغم فوزه 2-صفر في كأس الاتحاد الإنجليزي لكرة القدم.
وتلقى خوان ماتا لاعب وسط يونايتد تمريرة قبل نهاية الشوط الأول أثناء التقدم 1-صفر ونجح في وضع الكرة في المرمى ثم ذهب للاحتفال.
ولم يحتسب الحكم المساعد تسللا على ماتا لكن بعد لحظات لجأ حكم المباراة إلى إعادة الفيديو وألغى الهدف.
وأظهرت الإعادة التلفزيونية أنه لو كان ماتا متسللا فسيكون ذلك بمسافة ضئيلة جدا وليس بسبب خطأ من الحكم المساعد. ويعتقد كثيرون أنه كان ينبغي احتساب الهدف بداعي وجود اللاعبين على الخط ذاته.
